Already with us
Existing clients start here
You are already in the process. Nothing on this page asks you to apply again.
My payment date or amount
Changes to when or how much you pay go through your counsellor so the plan stays valid. Tell us before a payment is missed, not after.
A statement or certificate
Balances, distribution statements and your clearance certificate (Form 19) when the plan completes.
My income changed
Lost a job, took a cut, got a raise. The plan can be taken back to court and varied — but only if we know.
A creditor contacted me
Forward it to us. Collections on a debt inside your review should be coming to your counsellor, not to you.
You never pay a debt counsellor in cash or into a personal account. Every rand goes through a registered Payment Distribution Agency. If somebody claiming to be from DS4U asks otherwise, phone us on the number above before you do anything.
If you have not started yet
This is the whole process, end to end. You can stop after any stage and nothing has been committed.
- 1
The assessment
What you earn, what you owe, and what your month actually costs. Ten minutes, on chat, at your own pace.
- 2
An honest answer
A registered debt counsellor reads it and tells you whether debt review fits — including when the answer is no.
- 3
Your proposal
If it fits, you see the restructured payment and every fee itemised before you agree to anything.
- 4
Form 16, on your phone
You sign, your counsellor lodges the application, and the protection starts.
Nothing you say will surprise the person reading it
Our own research puts the median applicant at 58.4% of take-home pay already committed to debt repayments, and 56% of applicants above a 50% ratio. Whatever your month looks like, a counsellor here has seen it this week.

Common questions
Is the first assessment really free?
Yes, and it carries no obligation. Fees only apply if you decide to go under debt review, they are capped by the NCR rather than set by us, and they are built into your single monthly repayment — never paid upfront in cash.
Will I be judged?
No. The median applicant in our own research already commits 58.4% of their take-home pay to debt repayments before they eat. Nothing you say will be new to the person reading it.
Do I need an appointment?
No. No appointment, no office visit, no call centre queue. Start on chat whenever suits you — evenings and weekends included. If you would rather have a scheduled phone call, you can book one.
How do I pay, and who do I pay?
One payment a month to a registered Payment Distribution Agency, which pays each creditor for you. You never pay a counsellor cash or into a personal bank account. If anybody asks you to, that is not us.
Can I change debt counsellor?
Yes. Transferring keeps your protection and your plan intact — it is a much smaller step than leaving debt review, and it is the right one if your complaint is about service.
How do I complain?
Tell us first, on chat or by phone. If we cannot resolve it, you may take it to the National Credit Regulator or the National Consumer Tribunal, and we will give you the reference details you need to do so.
Not sure whether you are already listed? Run a free status check. Looking for the office address and hours? Contact details are here.
Open now, and free
Most people start this at night, when the house is quiet. The chat does not keep office hours, and the first assessment costs nothing.
